Just wanted to share the news. The photo on the post titled "19th century tomb" in photo critique, has been picked up and will be the cover of a CD to be released sometime around the end of the year. As soon as the CD is titled, I will post the name and band name.

Just how was it 'picked up' - from the forums or gallery here?

It was first discovered here. I received an e-mail from a band member, and it went from there. I didn't have time to try to market this one (although that was the plan). Which really says alot for this forum, excellent place to learn, and a chance of getting "discovered".

Guess I was just in the right place at the right time. It's nice and all, but I realize the main reason for the interest was the subject matter, and also realize that there are far better works and photogs here as well. Not that I lack confidence, or drive, but have been shooting for less than 2 months, and have much to learn.

It does say a lot for this place !
was it in the gallery (which I don't use enough perhaps) or in the discussion threads?

I love it when people find images on the site and purchase them. Even though the site is mostly for photographers, I have always hoped that designers, ad agencies, galleries, etc.; would use it as a source for good photography, too. Thanks for letting us know that the site is working on that level. And congratulations!

I'm happy for you about selling the shot - it's very moody and could be perfect for a CD cover.

And that's really great - unexpectedly great - that someone was here looking for shots! I see some really excellent work over in Critique, and a lot of it I'd be proud to have on my walls.

Congratulations...gives all us newbies hopes for the future...gotta give PJ and the rest of PR massive accolades for such a wonderful place for us to post our photos.
