View Full Version : abstract..? [image..no nudity] stuntboy 06-08-2005, 04:48 PM comments please..? http://p0wer.com/salt.jpg todd payn817 06-08-2005, 05:42 PM I really like this one. The colors are great. Dzerzhinski46 06-08-2005, 08:16 PM Dear Todd, I really like the lighting in this one. It has all the hallmarks of a good monochrome image. You also used your negative space very well here. I might like to see it uncropped though. Good job. Drew drg 06-08-2005, 08:50 PM The light is very well used. I like how the shadows fall. My one comment for possible improvement would be to have more (how much I can't say) space on the right of the object to balance the photo. I like where you used the frame cut. -CDP stuntboy 06-09-2005, 04:21 PM hey drew heres the uncropped version.... http://p0wer.com/salt_uncropped.jpg todd Dzerzhinski46 06-09-2005, 08:49 PM Dear Todd, Thanks. I almost prefer this one to the first. It has partly to do with the fact that there is more negatice space, and the gradation of colors is wider. That said, I like it better when subjects are off center. It would help this one, but you did a good job anyways. Drew stuntboy 06-10-2005, 02:58 AM hey drew, i liked both versions of this image but i do like the cropped version a wee bit more :) ...thanks for the critique todd readingr 06-10-2005, 04:57 AM Excellent - I like both of these photos I prefer the close up because you can see more of the texture of the item and it gives more of an abstract quality to it. I agree that more space is required on the right of the subject but only a centimeter or so. On a completely different note - how do you keep your images so large? When I compress the images seem to come out very small on screen GB1 06-10-2005, 08:57 AM Todd, You have an impressive ability with simplicity, lighting and composition. I like the photo and the composition, but I think that it might be a little too close to the edge of the frame. But I also like how you 'pushed the boundaries' on that,.... most photogs would have simply used the rule of thirds. It takes experimentation to go new places. Good luck with more of these shots. They're pretty unique. GB stuntboy 06-10-2005, 10:00 AM hi readingr, thanks for the nice words. the images size might have to do with me using my own server...im not to sure, when i resize my images to post here all as i use is photoshop and select to resize it to the appropriate size needed. GB1 thanks for stopping in on this image, and thanks for your critique :) todd |
