this may sound crazy but I actually think the flash works for this shot. That being said, I want to see the whole flower!! You chopped off a significant portion of the top and this just ruins the shot for me. The background is beautiful, I like the use of flash, just get me the whole flower ;-)

I can try to reshoot it, This isn't a crop. 99% of the images I post are raw.

My opinion, rotate the frame so that the flower petals hit each side of the frame and actually add a little more light to add depth. I will only shoot flowers outdoors, and only when it is really sunny, otherwise I find them a flat and dark. I find it easier to adjust my aperature and shutter for light, than to try to work with flash, or spot lighting. just my 2 cents!
