I've got two bricks coming of the new Velvia (it may be here, I haven't been to the office for a few days).

Will post review and samples when I get something good. What its for isn't happening for three weeks yet (a home and garden tour) and I'll also take a few rolls to the next car show.

O.K. guys, now listen up (that is, read this) carefully.

1 - I spoke up first!

2 - I have a N80, a F5 and a K1000. So I can crank through the film. Shoot one at metered value, one at ISO 80 ( to make it pop) and one pushed one stop to check for grain, color, contrast, etc.

3 - I have a gun safe full of guns. Don't make me shoot you. ;-)
A bit of trivia for you - it takes less than four feet of holdover at 500 meters with my .223. That's with a 55 grain PSP @ 3300 fps.

4 - I love seeing FILM shooters come out and making themselves known! Maybe PJ should divi up the Velvia between the three of us! A couple of boxes for Steve, a couple for Brian, and I'll take the rest. :-D

They spoil you, don't they? I love the colors and details I get with slides. If I had an E6 lab in my town, I'd shoot 95% slides. As it is, the nearest E6 lab is 1.5 hours away, and I only get up that way about once a month (at most). But it's worth the drive! :-)

Just checked B&H and Calumet and it's not listed on their sites yet. Fujifilm site is down for maintenance... I'm still a little worried about what it will look like, taking my Velvia 100F experience into account. :confused: Didn't like that one, but: A) I don't shoot a lot of chrome anymore, and B) it'll be gone soon so life will have to go on. I'm sure it will be fine. Slightly different, but fine.

They sure do spoil you. I have only shot a grand total of 11 rolls of slides so far (9 Velvia 50 and 2 Provia 100F), but I was hooked after the first one. I love the colors and the details that I get out of slides and the satisfaction of looking at them over digitals is no compairison. I'm not giving up my digital but I sure wish I had tried some slides years ago. I'm kinda lucky that I have a place locally that I can take them to get developed. He doesn't do them himself, but he gets them done, and back if not the next day, the day after that.

For $1000 you can get the 220 with a complete Pentax 6x7 camera!

Seriously, the only pix that I have taken with the 6x7 were on ectachrom vsw, Kodaks attemt at velvia. Talk about eye popping.
The main subject was a maple tree in the fall. There was a jogger in the bg that was about 1/8 inch tall on the film. If the camera/film were any sharper you could have checked the time on his watch!

I haven't shot any. I've been 100% digital for over three years.

But I have distributed some of the new Velvia to people who will report back. I also saw samples, in the Fuji booth, at PMA. It looks different from Velvia 50, but closer than Velvia 100F. I think most people will like it. It's got most of the same saturation, smaller grain, and if I remember right, reds look better.

Wow,,, Let me think about this... Hmmm... Looks familiar.... Oh wait, I get it! That's "film"! Have you thought about donating it to the Smithsonian? :D

I really like 100F. It doesn't have that green shift with long exposures. Which is about all I use film for nowadays.

Pictureline (http://pictureline.com/) in SLC received their first shipment of Velvia 100 late last week. I just ordered 120 sheets from them and have been looking very forward to this for awhile. Pictureline is substantially cheaper in all formats for this new film than what B&H is listing it at, and B&H still doesn't show it as being available yet. Plus, any order over $100 is free ground shipping. They have a friendly staff and can highly recommend them if you've not used them before. I'm looking forward to trying this stuff out this weekend.

We as Canadians don't see this new Velvia until August but I've already got a standing order for some 120 and a couple of boxes of 4x5.

Film is still a big part of my business although digital is a must have medium I still prefer film for the BIG picture.

I read somewhere in these threads that one poster uses film for long exposures, well out to 8 minutes this film will ROCK.

At the present I'm using Velvia 100F for night images out to 11 minutes without corrective filters and only about 1/3 stop for reciprocity failure.

I'm looking forward to this new emulsion.

It's also nice to know that in this era of digital technology that Fuji hasn't forgotten us lonely hearts out here still holding onto our film.
