i mentioned in my first post that music photography is my primary focus. i shot this about a month ago..it was my first shoot with a 300mm lense. whole new world for me.
i really liked these photos at first, but the more i look at them the more unsure i am of their value. hmm...

Hi,
The lighting makes these photos wrok. I like the first better because of the composition.

I agree with yoyo, the first one is my favourite, great lighting and the composition is great. Very moody!
Nice shooting,

I also think the first shot has the edge, but they have both come out very well. They are the sort of shots that would work very well accompanying an article about the gig. Nice one

Hi BB,
I really like the first one. Great lights, great pose. You've captured the moment very nicely. What would put this image over the top (for me) would be including all of the microphone in a vertical format.

As everyone else has stated, I too find the lighting to be very effective in these photos. I like the first one better do to the pose, and the drum kit is more visible as well, adding to the image IMO. Nice work.

Honestly the first one does nothing for me, but the second one ROCKS. It has a real Mick Jagger feel to it. I could see that as album art or a concert poster. Nice work dude.

hee hee. wow! i LOVE hearing so many different reactions. thanks so much.
some people LOVE the second image cause its a little more obscure and uncommon - the first is powerful but a little more traditional.
thanks for all the feedback - and i agree. just cutting off the mic took away from the photo. wish i had that done right.

I agree that the lighting makes these photos work. THe bottom picture is my favorite. I like the interaction of the light and the subject's pose.
