(not a critique, just curious) Steve Lutz 01-31-2004, 12:13 PM It is grainy. It was shot with a Digital Canon 10D at ISO 3200. mtbbrian 01-31-2004, 01:43 PM No offense to you and your photography Steve, but if that is digital @ 3200 ASA I am not too impressed. Did you do anything during your process? What format did you shoot these in? These are probably some of the first digital images I have seen shot that high. I don't normally shoot in such low light conditions, but I could. Anyway, thanks for posting these Steve. Brian Steve Lutz 01-31-2004, 03:08 PM The goth chick pics were unaltered, except to crop them. I kind of like them, myself, especially the 1st one. I used the fastest lens I had, and the fastest ISO and still had like, 1/30 of a second, f1.4. I didn't have flash with me, and wouldn't have used it if I had. I would rather not take the picture at all than use a stupid flash. Here is another ISO 3200, 50 1.4 shot, where the camera selected 1/60 of a sec, f/1.8. Color's better in this one, and I like it too. I showed these to the people in them, and they liked them alot, mostly because they are so totally different than what a flash photo would have been. mtbbrian 01-31-2004, 07:29 PM The qaulity of the second post is much better. Maybe the two girls moved or somthing. Because I felt that they were'nt very sharp. The second one is much better... Thanks for posting again Steve. Brian ken1953 04-26-2006, 07:26 PM Hi Steve...except for the graininess, I really like all of these. You have captured the fun these people were having in their faces. If you get a chance...try to get rid of some of the noise and see if you can't clean these up a bit. Hang on to them and hopefully one of these days, they'll improve the noise removal software and you'll have some pretty nice shots. Ken Axle 04-27-2006, 04:36 AM The faces are great, however the noise does detract for it. Try NeatImage, it's a decent piece of software. Also there are some plugins for photoshop for noise removal. bayville126 04-27-2006, 06:52 AM I love the images, the grain adds something to the photo. The images that you captured are what you'd expect in a low light situation. Asylum Steve 04-27-2006, 09:24 AM Here are two goth chicks from a concert last Thursday. 50 1.4, 10D, ISO 3200 Steve, pay no attention to the critics. It is the GRAIN and the NOISE of these shots fitted to the subjects that make them rock! Cool shots done in a style perfectly suited to the girls and environment... walterick 04-27-2006, 11:39 AM Is everyone aware that this thread is over two years old, and Steve Lutz has not been seen on this site for at least half that time? :D No harm in paying him complements though :) Asylum Steve 04-27-2006, 12:47 PM Is everyone aware that this thread is over two years old, and Steve Lutz has not been seen on this site for at least half that time? :D No harm in paying him complements though :) Nope. I did not even notice that. Saw a new post here and figured it was a new thread. Is my face red... OTOH, I have seen pretty recent posts by Steve, and have replied to those in a more, a'hem, timely fashion... adina 04-27-2006, 12:49 PM Hasn't he been in the critique forum recently? Two years is about how long it takes me to get up to speed....so you all are right on time :D |
